Welcome to the Tillsonburg Horticultural Society

Well my first year is over and I think it was a good one. I enjoy all the camaraderie of our board meetings and the difference it makes when the buck stops with me. Getting to know more of the members is also a great side benefit of the position.

We had wonderful tours this year again thanks to our Tour Director Christine Nagy and if you missed them, you should try to come on one and see. You don’t have to be an avid gardener to enjoy the gardens we see and the places we stop at.

This year’s list of speakers is again outstanding. From “Ancient Roman Gardens” to “Gardens of Northern Ireland” and back to “Designing the Canadian Garden” is like a world tour of talks. And the tours in the summer with a BBQ at one of them, will be another first for us.

The gardens at Annandale are getting a bit of a facelift with the creativity and loving touches of our volunteers. We always try for gardening designs that look good and require as little effort as possible. And we now do the Christmas urns as well to round out the entire year of gardening.

Watch the Soccer Club get more of our designing talents as the gardens expand near the new pavilion that was built.

Come to the “Hort” and meet new friends. The beautification of Tillsonburg is something that all of you should enjoy both in participation of the maintenance and/or the design of the various gardens we look after, or just by looking at them.
